My first reaction to this dress in the picture that it was super cute and different, not something I would normally wear. My friend didn't care for it much in the picture, and when I got it in person, our reactions flipped. I put it on and thought it was okay, and one of the first things she said was, "OMG YOU HAVE TO BUY THAT. THAT IS A BUY."

I wouldn't buy it for the price it's at now, maybe if it were under $20. Yeah, I'm cheap.   But it's pretty cute, but not something I could see myself wearing regularly.  It felt totally retro chic when I wore it and I felt good wearing it, except for what I call the "Quasimodo Back." The back bunched up, as others have said, and it made me look like a hunchback... and like I had major back rolls. My back rolls are minor, thank you very much.  A lady of my size needs no help accentuating back rolls... and Spanx are a must in these.

It was fun to wear to the office today!

This dress was very comfortable and a great length, but I live in a place that is pretty breezy and this fabric is pretty flowy, so.. hold on to your skirt! I wore it to a scholarship interview and then to a baby shower.  My upper body is actually quite muscular so I didn't care much for the back which was totally blocked up to the neckline. The sleeves are nice in that they cover my bra straps, and it didn't appear too low cut when I first put it on, but it falls open super easily so I had to pop a safety pin in there to keep the girls from going free! The sleeves are a little deep, I wore a nude bra with it but you could still see it. At times I loved this dress and at other times I felt like I looked pregnant. It's a love/hate relationship!

The pin I'm wearing is a submarine with a heart, because my scholarship interview was for the Bowfin Memorial Scholarship... and the baby shower I went to was all wives from my husband's boat so it worked out :-) You can get a similar pin at the Dolphin Store at Pearl Harbor.

I actually bought and reviewed this on March 10 but I hadn't started my blog yet and so I wanted to stick this piece on here!

I bought this because Eric couldn't stop smiling when he looked at me and it was a good price!  I've worn it to my office and gotten a lot of compliments on it. The ribbon is great because I can wear it on other things but it really pulls this dress together. The black slip is attached to the sheer dress so when I bought it I just detached them which made it easier to wear and wash. This was a great length and an adorable style to switch things up. The skirt has a nice flow to it and it is a great length!

I saw on the reviews some complaints about it being too cutesy... well I'm only 24, so I will take advantage of being able to pull of "cutesy" as long as I can! That is certainly not the word Eric used to describe how he thought I looked in this dress :-)

This is a comfortable fabric and my only complaint is that the breeze totally gave major shows to anyone around. I had to hold it down when I was outdoors. If you aren't confident showing your legs I would avoid this one, it hit me mid-thigh and I'm pretty average height. I think this dress would be way more like a shirt on someone taller. I got a lot of compliments on this dress! It is a bit too short for me to wear in the office (ESPECIALLY in the back!!) but cute for a BBQ or beach day. I wore it for the day and to do a short brief.  Loved this one!

Karen Kane Flying V Maxi Skirt

This skirt is so comfortable!! It clings to your body nicely so you aren't always adjusting it, it flowed nicely, it was a good length, and just all-around a cute skirt to have. It has kind of a Morticia Adams feel to it... which I love :-) I'll be sad to give it back but it was fun to wear for a bit.

...And thor has messed up the guest bed. Thanks dog, I promise I'm not a slob! Why am I always explaining away my dog?!

Thread & Butter Adrian Sweater

Oh. My. God. This is by far my most favorite thing I have ever gotten from Gwynnie Bee ever. It is so soft, so comfortable, so complimentary. It make me want to run out and buy a pair of leggings to wear with it. I would totally buy this if it weren't so pricey... but I will definitely be holding on to this piece for a little while... This is perfect because often in HI it's warm during the day and cool at night. My ONLY issue and the reason I'm not buying it at the price it's at is a pretty thin material and I can see it having a snagging issue... I will hold on to this for a bit and most likely recloset.  The sweater does go down more, I just have it scrunched up. I'll update the blog when I wear it that way. God I wish this was just a tad cheaper... I'M IN LOVE!

UPDATE: 4-21-14... I couldn't part with it. I BOUGHT IT!

Taryn Twist Dress

This dress was adorable and I got a lot of compliments in it. I wore it to a Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon and it was perfect "Aloha Crisp." I was a little worried because the fabric is really very heavy but it laid nicely and I felt comfortable in it! The only thing I didn't like is I didn't wear my "suck in my stomach" underwear and I totally needed to. It hid my stomach "well enough" but I would have felt much more comfortable with them.  My husband loved it on me. After a long day I laid in bed to take a nap, still in the dress, and he walks in and exclaimed how sexy he thought it was!  It caught me off guard but the dress does accentuate curves very well and the faux shrug doesn't look out of place at all.  I'm 5'5 and the dress was the perfect length, especially for the ruffled bottom.

This dress is fun and has a cute swing to the skirt, but the other reviews are right, it is a bit tricky as a dress because my hips (and I'm sure everyone else who has worn this particular dress before) are bigger than my chest, so it doesn't fit nicely on your chest. I wore a strapless bra with it when I wore it as a dress.  It's flowy, but actually a pretty warm fabric. I was getting sweaty in it in my air conditioned office in Hawaii where it's 75-85. The fabric is just a little thick so when I drove I would always hike it up to my knees so it was cooler. :-)  It's not too fancy, and I had a hard time figuring out where to wear it but I try to commit to wearing everything I get at least once so I wore it out to dinner.

In the pics, I wore it as a skirt on a date night out, I just wore it as a dress to get pics for it. Please don't judge the stained tile... Red dirt is a PITA.

BB Dakota Avril Dress

This was super cute if it would have fit better around my shoulders. It fit great in my hips and waist and the length was great (even with the wind!) but the top just fell on my chest exposing way too much of my bra on the sides and front.  I wore a white jean jacket when I had clients so I wasn't showing so much of my bra on the side. You can see the issue in the side picture. The belt is mine, it did not come with the dress.

Please excuse my exhausted face... I had just gotten home from 14 hours of traveling/flying the day before! And... it was super windy.
